Independent Contractors

An Independent Contractor (IC) is someone who is engaged in a distinct occupation, profession, business or trade not regularly part of University business; agrees to do a specific piece of work for an agreed-upon fee; also provides services to non-University clients; and supplies their own tools and workspace.

Human Resources determines whether the individual who is performing the services qualifies as an IC.

A requisition can only be entered once HR has approved IC status, insurance has been approved or waived by Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and a Vendor 204 form has been completed in CFS.

Services can only be performed after the contract has been fully executed.
